Parents' Right to Know
PARENTS’ RIGHT TO KNOW
Parents have the right to know the following:
- NURSES & COUNSELORS – Each NHISD campus has a certified full-time counselor. The district employs one registered nurse (RN) to serve all campuses.
- REQUEST PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT – A parent/guardian has the right to request a copy of your child’s physical fitness assessment if one is required for your child’s grade level. To do so, contact the campus office.
- ENROLLING FROM HOMESCHOOL – FD local policy
REQUIRED STATE ASSESSMENTS BY GRADE –
- PK – CIRCLE assessment (Beginning and end of year)
- Kindergarten TX-KEA– Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment (BOY with literacy screener, MOY, and EOY), Universal Dyslexia screening at EOY
- 1st Grade – Dyslexia screening (BOY), Texas Primary Reading Inventory--TPRI—(BOY, MOY, EOY)
- 2nd Grade – Texas Primary Reading Inventory--TPRI-- (BOY, MOY, EOY)
- 3rd Grade - STAAR Math, STAAR Reading, FitnessGram (once annually)
- 4th Grade - STAAR Math, STAAR Reading, FitnessGram (once annually)
- 5th Grade - STAAR Math, STAAR Reading, STAAR Science, FitnessGram (once annually)
- 6th Grade - STAAR Math, STAAR Reading, FitnessGram (once annually)
